CV314 reflex klystron
Described as an Electron Beam Noise Generator, this is a selected and mondified CV35. The valve carries the following markings: The number 5742 is labelled on the glass beneath the reflector connector. The output connector carries the number AP67748 The cavity carries the number 6065 (or 5909 or S909 if rotated!) on both the top disc seal and the top of the cavity assembly.
The heater voltage is adjusted to give the 1mA beam current. |

The valve is produced from the CV35 by the addition of an output coupling loop and plug, Admiralty Pattern 67748. Each valve is selected and adjusted to give a noise output equal to within 0.25db to a zero level of noise, defined by means of standard reference values, when operated at midband (10cm) with a collector current of 600µA. The collector current is adjusted by varying the heater voltage. The noise output should then be proportional to the collector current and virtually constant over the tuning range. | ||||||||||||||
